Breaking the Cycle (Rocking Racers Book 1) Page 24
At every race, the whole family is in the Ryan Racing garage Avery and Chris share. The team’s chief engineer is the kid’s “Uncle” Rome, with his adopted son, Xander, assisting. Ryan Racing’s freestyle rider is planning on putting a ring on her finger very soon, or so Grayson tells me. This is despite Reed still insisting she and her sisters aren’t allowed to date until they’re fifty.
Even though traditionally Ryans only have boys, Reed always did give me what I wanted, so a house full of girls and the boy I asked for is what I got.
We’ve been married twenty-five and a half years and are still in love as ever, and still as healthy as ever. I know Reed worried, and still worries, that something might happen to me, as had happened to his pa and pop’s wives, but if being with me taught him anything, it’s that the women in his life are always up for breaking the cycle.
Acknowledgments
I never thought this book would ever make it to print. Yes, I wrote it and sent it to a publisher in the hopes it would be picked up, but I didn’t actually think it would happen.
I’d like to thank Becky, Liv, and everyone at Hot Tree Publishing. Thank you for all your hard work and for believing in me and seeing the potential of the manuscript I sent you. It was the most stressful thing I’ve ever done but I’m so proud of the finished product. I’m still not sure whether I can believe this is happening but it truly is the biggest honour of my life.
To my parents, Dave and Trish Lowe, thank you. From the young girl who used to make issues of the Woodvale News on the family PC to the university graduate who decided she didn’t want to pursue a career actually using the degree she just spent three years studying for, I want to thank you for loving and supporting me through all of it. I love you both so much. There have been some rough patches but hopefully, this is a sign of better things to come.
To Anne Stewart, who always encouraged me, thank you. I’m so sorry Jen never got to see her name in print, so Jennifer Stewart, this is for you.
To Jaelene Hilcke, you are an amazing woman who constantly inspires me and puts me to shame. You are a living example of great strength of character and determination. Better times are coming for you.
To my friends, workmates, and managers, thank you for putting up with my addled mind while Bria, Reed, and the Ryans filled my head.
To Sadé Norris and John Steele, thank you for not laughing at my idle scribblings, also known as my first pathetic attempts at writing. It took a lot for me to open myself up like that so thank you for your kind words and encouragement.
To Tijan, L.P. Maxa, Kaylee Ryan, Ahren Sanders, and Cambria Hebert, thank you for your books, providing me with endless hours of entertainment and inspiration.
To the millions of women out there who believe they’re not worth as much as their male counterparts, who are fighting their own personal battles and those who have not yet found their way, keep going. One day better things are coming, we just have to have faith and believe in us; after all, if we don’t, who will?
And finally, to you who is reading this, thank you so much. It’s such a thrill to know you are reading the words I’ve spent hours upon hours slaving over. I hope you enjoyed Breaking the Cycle and fell in love with Bria and Reed just like I did. If so, please leave a review, blog, tweet or post about Breaking the Cycle and recommend it to all your friends!
About the Author
Megan Lowe is a lost journalism graduate who after many painful years searching for a job in that field, decided if she couldn’t write news stories, she would start listening to the characters whispering stories to her and decided to write them down. She writes primarily new adult and contemporary romance stories with sport and music themes.
Based on the Gold Coast, Megan's heart belongs to New York City. When she’s not writing, she’s either curled up with a good book, travelling, or screaming at the TV, willing her sporting teams to pull out the win.
Megan would love to hear from reader.
